Sack of Balbriggan Commemorative Medal

On 20th September 1920, during an altercation in Smyth’s public house in Balbriggan, RIC constable Peter Burke was fatally shot and his brother William wounded. News of the shooting reached Gormanston Camp where the Black and Tans were based. They descended on Balbriggan that night intent on revenge.

The medal depicts a scene of the Sack of Balbriggan on the front and the Balbriggan Town Crest on the back. This gift item comes with a 4-page booklet.
